A Roadmap to the Future
Major changes for banking in 2020 will be built on the shoulders of prior improvements in the industry. Three major trends have been use of self-service, use of mobile communications devices, and replacement of paper with electronic images. The catalysts for further change in 2020 will be cell phone devices, especially smartphones (computers that allow you to make phone calls), the expanded use of the internet, and the vast array of cell phone-based application solutions. This evolutionary process will witness the demise of prior catalysts for change. These include plastic transaction cards, paper-based instruments and processes, and the need for manual transactions – including the branches in which they occur.
