Asia Pacific is the largest and most vibrant region for cards and digital payments. APAC is characterised by a very wide range of markets – advanced credit card markets like Australia, Singapore, South Korea, Taiwan; middle rung like Malaysia, Philippines, Thailand, China; to still under-developed markets like India, Vietnam, Bangladesh and Indonesia. The conventional American-style revolving credit card hasn't evolved into a day- to-day instrument of use. Credit cards have been in APAC since the late 1950s, with Diners Club the prominent and prestigious brand of the elite. Mass credit card adoption really took off in the 1980sin countries such as Australia, Japan, Singapore, Hong Kong, and South Korea.
