Prepaid embraces customisation

Serverside Group, which specialises in card personalisation, has joined forces with Newcastle Card Solutions and Quantum Card Services to deliver customised prepaid gift cards to the UK market for the first time.

The personalised prepaid products, which are the first of their kind in the UK, can be customised on the internet, allowing customers to upload their own image or choose a design from the gallery provided.

Newcastle Card Solutions, a subsidiary of Newcastle Building Society that specialises in prepaid card programmes, is offering the customisation option to all prepaid companies.

Customisation is also becoming a feature of the US prepaid cards market and US prepaid card solutions provider TransCard has developed an application called FotoCard that allows cardholders to upload their own photos to the card design.

TransCard is a provider of prepaid and debit cards on the MasterCard, Discover, Star and Pulse networks. The company says it is the first to customise prepaid cards in the US market.

Craig Fuller, TransCard’s CEO, said: "FotoCard gives cardholders the choice in their card designs - making their experience more individualised and driving increased cardholder adoption. This solution is two-fold: perpetuating the top-of-wallet usability of prepaid cards by cardholders and increasing the brand visibility of the client."
